About InfectoNET
Our Mission
InfectoNET is an open-access global surveillance platform for infectious disease genomic epidemiology. We aggregate publicly available pathogen sequence data to track the emergence and spread of viruses and other pathogens worldwide.
FAIR Principles
Findable — Every dataset has a canonical, persistent URL.
Accessible — Data is freely downloadable via our public API.
Interoperable — Export in JSON, CSV, or FASTA formats.
Reusable — All data is openly licensed with full provenance metadata.
Data Sources
Sequence data is sourced from NCBI GenBank, GISAID, and Nextstrain, processed through standardised quality-control and metadata enrichment pipelines.
Team
InfectoNET is an independent, non-commercial open-science side project maintained by an individual researcher. It is not affiliated with, operated by, or endorsed by any university, institution, or employer. It builds on the open-source AMRnet platform.
Source code is available on GitHub (lcerdeira/infectonet).
